Engineering Discovery 2017

Date: 24 Oct 2017

Time: 12.00pm - 4.30pm

Venue: Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre

This event for secondary school students seeks to provide them with education and career guidance so that they are better informed about engineering education and careers as well as the choices available at the polytechnics. This flagship event that anchors this year’s Engineering@Polys activities will be held on 24 October 2017 at Singapore Polytechnic’s Convention Centre. The theme for this year’s event is “Innovate and Create Engineering Solutions to Make the World a Better Place”.

The event comprises three parts:

(a) Experiential and interactive project exhibits by polytechnic students. This segment aims to showcase engineering as an exciting and meaningful endeavour which helps to develop ingenious inventions that are useful to society and industry.

(b) Hands-on workshops based on five key areas that provide students with a quick overview of the engineering applications and relevant knowledge related to these areas. Highlights of this segment include building prototypes related to the key areas to ignite students’ interest in engineering and participating in a mini contest to win attractive prizes.

The five key areas for the hands-on workshops are:

I Go Green! Fun with applying green technologies to support sustainable development
I Fly High! Fun with aircraft design, construction, and test-flying
I Appreciate Robots! Fun with understanding and controlling robotic systems
I Go Smart! Fun with building smart devices for a Smart city
