National Engineers Day

The inaugural "National Engineers Day" event is jointly organized by the Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES), the polytechnics and universities, A*STAR, EDB, the Singapore Science Centre and supported by our local industry.

The objective of this event is to create positive perception of engineers and to promote engineering as a desired career choice among young people.  The primary target participant is the secondary school and junior college students.

This National Engineers Day event will have its opening ceremony on Saturday, 4 Sept 2010 at 10am with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean as the Guest of Honor.  The venue is at *SCAPE (www.scape.com.sg), 2 Orchard Link. Secondary schools who want to send their students for the opening ceremony can email Ms Low San San: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call her at: 6780 5426 for free bus transport.  Minimum of 20 students are required. After the opening ceremony, students can also view the engineering exhibition at *SCAPE.

During the National Engineers Day, there will be activities such as exhibition, industry visit, workshops, talks organized for school students.  Polytechnics, universities and industry partners will be showcasing their technology and engineering-related products at the exhibition.
